Pupuhed is still wiping the tears of laughter from his face. The top secret Menacing Presence Defense Field had worked even better than he had hoped! The navigator had picked up on the code words "look menacing" and activated it when he started dancing around the scout ship.

Using the MP field is a risky manuever because it requires getting close to another ship and maintaining a tight synchronous course around it. To be honest Pupuhed did not think he would get the opportunity to test a device with such strict requirments. But he did and it worked perfectly, redirecting any missile weapons fired upon the Suid Sidal into the neighboring ship.

His only regret is that the Feds, not knowing about the secret MPDF, will not give him credit for the kill. Instead they will probably blame their own incompetent weapons officer. No matter. His own people will know and they now have yet another tool at their disposal to use against their hated enemies, however limited its practical use may be. Combined with the cloaking device the Menacing Presence field could be very useful indeed...

Pupuhed then got some more good news from the technicians gathered at the communications area. Apparently being so close to the blast of the exploding scout ship had somehow restored communications! This was perfect. Another risk of the MPDF device had turned out to be an asset.

Pupuhed laughed some more and put his tension ball away.

Just then the communications officer reports that his newly fixed station is picking up a Romulon emergency pulse beacon being broadcast from a small ship just now arriving into qudrant 7x9.
