The pod was so crowded that at least two people heard the prince’s groan of pain. They also saw the door mysteriously start to open again as if encountering some obstacle.

Know-it-all escapee number 2: “What the…?”

Instinctively the escapee extends a probing hand into the chamber, and gets a swift strike directly in his trachea for his trouble. His windpipe suddenly collasped, the man staggers backwards. “At least the accursed Macaraina was now silenced”, Gorak thought.

Right about this time, Mr Lodice was getting his orders to wait a little longer from admiral Greystar. But Gorak was not about to wait to see what would happened next. He triggered the BANG and dropped it. As people were trying to figure out what all the commotion was about with the gagging crewmember, the prince pressed the recall button on his commlink.

Several things happened then in fast sucession. First, the BANG rolled out into full view, its display counting down “5-4-3...” Those who spotted it looked on in speechless terror. Gorak was whisked away to the Suid Sidal. The pod crew was beamed into Greystar’s holding trap on the cargo bay. And the nuke went off.
