Suddenly Pupuhed is completely taken aback by the announcement of the Pondscum Nebula’s VS1 maneuver. Not only did the fed ship escape, but the GREASERS were now heading directly towards the Suid Sidal! He is forced to turn his attention away from the PezDispenser for the moment and deal with new threat.

He knows better than to strengthen the GREASERS by firing at them so he desperately orders evasive maneuvers. But it has no affect, the fast moving little bugs could not be shaken. In fact, the Suid Sidal’s expendure of maneuvering energy only makes them move faster like moths drawn to a flame. At the last moment before the swarm was upon him, he desperately does the only thing he can think of. He orders the cloak engaged.

Amazingly, Pupuhed gets lucky. The GREASERS attach themselves to the null barrier produced by the cloak’s field. They are a bit confused by it actually. They can still sense the power and mass of the ship being hidden by the cloak, but they can’t get thru the energy nullification field. They seem to be maddened and frustrated by the field and swarm around the cloak bubble like angry hornets.

Just then Greystar starts to take potshots at the rear of the Suid Sidal which was clearly outlined by the swarm surrounding it. The GREASERS absorb the hits, but the entire ship is rocked in the process.

Science Officer: “Captain, I took it upon myself to see if this situation has ever been recorded. Couldn’t find anything in our data banks so forgive me that I searched the Ima Bunny newsfeeds. According to her, a cloak will keep the GREASERS at bay, and they in turn will protect us from incoming enemy fire. But the cloak will also attracts them to us until we run out of power trying to maintain the field. It’s a sort of stalemate captain. But eventually they will get thru.”

Pupuhed readies another tension ball.
